Why on earth would some collecter want to replace an original dial with a junky reproduction?

This endless switching and replacing makes no sense.

There are many reasons why incompetents do these things:

(in no order)

1 they look pretty

2 they don't understand that fakes ruin the value

3 they THINK improved looks will raise the price, and ultimately the value

4 they do not care about originality

5 they do not know the difference

6 they are too cheap to buy an original

7 they do not know where to find an original

8 they basically don't care

9 OR, they have been sold a "bill of goods" (some BS or hype or lies) from some BIG self annointed researcher or fast buck artist/dealer
