a new wave of collecting is about to surface--dial dating.

IS YOURS SOLDER, SLIP, SHELLAC, OR SOMEOTHER GREEN BOARD RESEARCH CONCOCTION???

Just a reminder I had an early Illinois dial that the second bits was not solder.
But that other stuff (shellac or whatever it was ).

Any way 24 hours of dial soaking in the Green Bottle of Comet Cleanser, disintegrated the non-solder material. :eek: :eek: :eek:

the comet does contain a weak acid i believe.....

Actually, I've had good luck with liquid Comet. A good overnight soak will remove all of the grime and dirt in hairlines. I would not use it to clean a Ferguson dial though as the color seems to fade very easily on these.
