Default where do they come up with this stuff

and the mis-information continues on and on and on........................

Some of the "posse" of so-called "experts (?)" continue on and on defending the Waltham 1888 model "hanging barrel" nonsense and the incorrect definition of same, most recently in the nawcc June Bulletin.

The Waltham Church barrel is not a hanging barrel. The term "hanging barrel" refers to a type of Swiss barrel.

The 1st run 1888 barrel is supported at the bottom end by the step in the steel barrel and the recess in the dial plate with which it fits. In the Swiss "hanging barrel" if the holes arenít a tight fit to the barrel arbor the barrel can tilt enough to interfere with the smooth transmission of power.

Waltham 1888 models DO NOT HAVE HANGING BARRELS!

Chapter 149 provides CORRECT INFORMATION and DEFINTIONS without the verbage, padded nonsense and B.S.!
