Illinois Springfield Watch Company, 1869-1927 Springfield, Illinois. Historical research on the Illinois Watch Company and its related name changes. First watch was a gilt 18s key wind, signed Stuart. Many grades, sizes and jeweling variations; many private labels and jeweler names in this the third largest American watch producer. Sold in 1927 to the Hamilton Watch Company.

Default Help! Illinois "America"

Anyone know a whole lot about key-wind Illinois 18s marked "America?" The case is what really puzzles me. The inside appears to be silver/silver plate, but the outside is brass. It does not appear as if the plating has worn to brass as there is no sign it was ever plated. Also, there are no makers marks etc. Anyone have any insight? Thanks!
