In Geo. Townsands Encyclopedia of Dollar Watches he list under names used by Ingersoll a Flagg's Special, but the movement matches a New Haven (Plate 65) on page 23 and the patent dates match the ones on page 22 (plate 56). Does anyone have or know if Ingersoll made a Flagg's Special?

Maybe my question should be: Does this New Haven movement belong to this dial and case? Did we have a SWITCHER here? or could ther be a mistake in Geo. Townsands book, and the Flagg's Special should be under the New Haven list.
On the NAWCC MB under MY Cheep Collection, Brian C. states: I have one with the paper dial signed Flagg's Special. Looks like an Ingersoll movement but the case paper says, Flagg's Watch Manfg. Co. 165 Tremont St. Boston, Mass.
Just curious about anyones thoughts.

Default Flaggs Special

Dave,
I found this 2 year old post about Flaggs Special watches, and I just purchased one which is definetly a New Haven Plate 57 in the Colonels' book
with a paper tag inside the back of the case that says The Flagg Watch Mfg. Co.
Boston Mass., so it does not address whether there is an Ingersoll model or not . Hope you see this post.

I saw a Flaggs Special dial today.
Advertising dial, and it also had something on the dial about Biltmore.

It was a dollar watch, and I did not look inside at the movement.

Default Flaggs Special

Henry, mine sounds like the one you saw today, it is signed Flagg's Special Baltimore Dairy Lunch. I just recieved it in the mail today!!
Dave, thanks for reposting. Except for the dial signature, Mine is the same as yours in every way, other than condition of course, looks like I have bit of mildew on the dial. I hope to restore it with original hands, does yours have a glass or plastic crystal, If I had to guess I would say plastic, and I also have the paper insert. But the real mystery to me is The Flagg Watch Mfg Co. 165 Tremont St. Boston Mass. We will have to ask Jon about that one!!! What say you Mr. Hanson?

Without a doubt mine is New Haven Plate # 57 on page 22 of Colonel Townsends "the Watch that Made the Dollar Famous"
